Townlands is a turn-based quiz game for one to four players or teams of players. The gameboard is a townland map. Townlands are historical and administrative land divisions. Move across the board by answering multiple-choice questions successfully. To win the game, cross the board from start to end points in the fewest turns. In the event of a draw, when two or more players arrive at the destination in the same number of turns, the quickest total time to answer questions decides the winner. You can limit the time available for answering a question. Questions are based on the information contained in this website. The game, then, encourages you to explore and read information on the website. Play the game in one browser window and search the website for answers in another, or on another computer. To play the multiplayer version, one person controls the board as the quizmaster and other players use their computers to search the website for answers to questions.
