THE TOWNLAND OF CAVANAGROW

The townland of Cavanagrow is in the parish of Kilclooney in Armagh County. It is labelled number 7 on the map.

The Environment and Heritage Service Sites and Monuments Record (2002) notes the following in this townland:

Townland: CAVANAGROW
CONDITION: No visible remains
A semi-circular field boundary and a curve in a narrow road shown on the OS 6" map of 1862 seem to indicate an antiquity. This may simply be a response to the natural topography which forces the road to avoid a small hilltop, but it could be the site of "Harvey's Fort" recorded by Paterson.
